Chang is legendary for so many reasons. Two American cinematographers trekked deep into the malaria-infested jungles to film for 18 months. They used hand-held cameras and put their lives on the line to get close-ups of animals, the film was made is as fascinating as the movie itself.
In the USA Chang was one of the biggest movies of 1928 in what was the fledgling movie industry.
In 1929, Chang was nominated for an Academy Award, the very first year the Oscars were dished out, in the category of “Unique and Artistic Production”.
