Process

Process of applying for Film Permit

Foreign filmmakers hire a Local Coordinator who is officially registered with Thailand Film Office.

Local Coordinator applies required form and supporting documents to Thailand Film Office.

Thailand Film Office reviews documents

if the submitted documents are completed and corrected, the meeting with the Film, Video and Digital Media Committee will be arranged.

If the submitted documents are incompleted/incorrected, the Local Coordinator will be informed to have the documents amended.

The Film, Video and Digital Media Committee will make decision on approval within

3 business days

Working Days

for advertising and public relations, documentary, music video, and TV program.

5 - 10 business days

Working Days

for TV program with sensitive content, short film, feature film, TV series, TV drama, and reality show.

Thailand Film Office informs Committee’s decision to Local Coordinator and cooperate with related governmental agencies such as

  • Bangkok Metropolitan Administration
  • Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation
  • Royal Forest Department
  • Forest Industry Organization
  • Fine Arts Department

Required documents are as follows

A letter made by the assigned Local Coordinator, informing the Director-General of Department of Tourism.
An assignment letter made by the foreign filmmaker, showing they have chosen and hired a Local Coordinator.
An application form for a Film Permit.
Supporting documents needed for approval consideration, for example, storyboard, treatment, details or objective of the content, synopsis, and script, depending on the type of film production.
A schedule of filming in Thailand specifying exact dates and locations.
List of foreign film crews’ names, passport numbers, positions, and arrival dates.
