Incentive Measures

Criteria

Thailand provides an Incentive Measures for international film production projects with local expenditure of 50 million THB (approximately 1.43 million USD) or more, including a main rebate of 15% and an additional rebate of up to 5%, applicable as follows
  • 3%
    for hiring Thai people in key positions in the film production.
  • 5%
    for filming contents to promote Thailand’s image, soft power, and tourism.
  • 3%
    for filming in designated tourism provinces or cities.
  • 2%
    for using post-production services in Thailand.
  • 5%
    for any projects with local expenditures of 150 million THB (approximately 4.29 million USD) or more and start production from January 1st, 2024 onwards.
  • The maximum rebate is 150 million THB (approximately $4.29 million USD) per project.

1. Presenting positive image or promoting positive perception of Thailand, at least one of the following

Festival or Tradition
Displaying the enchantment, uniqueness, and inspiring audience join the festival.
Thai Cuisine or Thai Dessert
Displaying the cooking recipe, delicacy, finesse, Thai ingredients and inspiring audiences to have a taste.
Thai Costume, Fabric, or Craft Products
Displaying the production process, subtlety, elegance, value, and attracting audiences to wear Thai costumes or Thai fabric.
Thai Martial Arts
Displaying beauty and excellence of Thai Martial Arts as well as the preservation and inspiration to the audiences.
Identity of Thais
Displaying the uniqueness of Thai people such as friendliness, kindness, or Thai Smile.

2. Presenting the beauty of Thailand’s Tourist attractions.

Showing the beauty of natural attractions or the modern of man-made attractions at least 5 scenes. Presenting an impression and drawing attention to audiences to visit Thailand.
Mentioning name of attraction in the dialogue as well as the outstanding features to inspire the audience to explore.

3. The film is well received by audiences.

For theatrical release, the film must rank in the Top 5 of the box-office charts in the country of production.
For steaming services release, the film must rank in the Top 5 chart in the country of production.

Note : If the film is not released in the country of production, consider the ranking record upon release in at least one of the G20 countries instead.

Note: the principal photography days in these areas must cover at least 50% of the filming period in Thailand.

The spending cost for post-production services in Thailand should not be less than 15% of the eligible spending.
